Saw this on another site and thought it might be of use to some of us.

that's very cool. I use a similar way to store cam straps, I didn't know there was a way to do ratchet straps too. Just gotta say one thing, don't use ratchet straps on a kayak, only cam straps. That being said, I can't wait to get out to my box of straps so I can wrap up the ratchet straps!

Great ideas however, I would warn against using ratchets on your kayak. They are fine but, we have a tendency to over tighten them and its easy to do to a plastic boat. Too tight and you can press the yak bottom against the cross bars and bottom will bend. Further, if left sitting in the sun like that it can cause additional damage. Be careful to just snug them up but not over tighten any tie down.

Its just too easy to over tighten ratchets. Great video, cool ideas.

I agree with using the cam strap, too easy to over tighten with a ratchet strap. I use a T-Bar for transporting and attach kayak with cam strap on back and ratchet strap through front handle.

But I will start using the "sock method" to store my straps. The wife will be happy to get rid of all those unmatched socks in my sock drawer.

Thanks for posting.
