Just got my helix 5 SI, what arm do you guys use?
Looking at the scotty mount or the 24" ram arm.

I am leaning towards the RAM arm due to it being a stout setup, but cant really go wrong w/ scotty either.

What say you guys

I have the 18" RAM (1" ball) and with a 1" to 1" RAM connector it is plenty to get me to "keel depth" of my kayak.

I HAVE heard instances where the Scotty arm caused some issues, because, as the user claimed, the arm is flimsy. They stated that it caused the arm to wobble when cutting through the water, affecting the sonar imaging. Just what I've heard.

Never had any issues while using the scotty arm in the past.
It was pretty well made and study, the ram arm looks more flexible though with the bending arm..

I use the Ram Transducer Arm mount and it works great for my yak.

Mine's two feet back behind my right hip because I like to fish off the left side of my kayak and keep the foredeck clear for fly fishing.

I mounted my RAM just behind my seat on the side OPPOSITE the anchor trolley. Didn't want it caught in rope, and it's close enough that I can flip it up when I encounter heavy weeds, any obstruction, or when docking. The 18" version was more than enough to get me to depth with the transducer.
