One of the most diverse fisheries in the Midwest. While access to the river is easy, it can be challenging for less experienced kayak anglers. The current is strong near the dam, particularly if the gates are open. If the gates are open, boaters & kayakers are required to stay back approximately 500 yards from the dam. Extremely crowded on weekends, and crazy crowded in October for paddlefish snagging season. If it's not a weekend, and the gates are closed, it is a special place to fish. Lots of diverse species available to anglers..
