You can put in at the top of the dam or below it. If you put in up top, and follow the main channel, you will run into Great Crossings Dam, only one shallow spot but you can float through on a kayak easily. This is a great little strip of the elkhorn that is easy no matter what the water is like, just watch out for the ducks. I have caught very nice sized Largemouth in this stretch ranging from 3-5lbs. Very fun, just stay positive.
