Great place to spend the day. There are an amazing amount of pickerel at Batsto, along with largemouth, crappie and perch. The laregemouth can be difficult to locate, and you're much more likely to tie into more pickerel than you can count with all the grass, but I have caught decent bass here. The lake itself is only 15 acres, but you can continue up the Batsto River for a long way, which makes for a very pleasant paddle if the fish aren't biting or you've lost too many lures to the toothy picks. This is one of those places to go if you want scenery and calm with the chance of catching some fish, rather than someplace to go to target lunker bass. Yellow perch are abundant in the river, and can be easily caught with a beetle spinner, small minnows or grubs..
