This is called a lake because the river widens at the dam near New Salem Road. Paddle away from the dam for skinnier water. Acces to the area is a little rough for cars, especially those with low ground clearance. A truck would be recommended. This is a great place to fish a section of river without having to shuttle from put in to takeout..
