Great value for a beginner

I am a beginner kayak angler but I have been boat fishing for many years. I did a lot of research before choosing this yak. Being a larger guy, weight capacity and stability was a large concern. This kayak has a 500lb capacity and with the tri-hull design it is very stabil, however because of the tri-hull design it tracks horribly. Since I am new to this I could be what is wrong with the tracking. The only downfall is that lack of a rear hatch, lots of wasted cargo space under the seat and in the back. For the price though, you can't beat this.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
Stability, weight capacity, value
Cons:
Speed and tracking

Perception Striker angler 11.5

features, the boat came with an Anchor, anchor trolley, and a scotty rod mount (Mounted too far up to use, and possibly incorrectly)

i dont have a lot to compare this too, but i would say the speed is relatively slow. it's a fishing kayak, it's not made for whitewater, or winning races...

tracking, now I've heard the definition of tracking as being how straight do you go once you stop paddling. that being the case... i hate to say the perception tracks horribly. it often spins right or left once you stop. NOW!!! that being said... I am new kayak-er, I am not ruling out pilot error. i intend to play with balancing out the weight to see if that helps etc. maybe later down the road add a skeg

over all this is a great kayak for me. its a lot like cars. you can buy a sports car, or a pickup truck. sports cars haul very little, take at least a little skill to safely drive, look great and get from a to b very quickly

or you can buy a pick up truck... they haul a lot, typically slow, especially compared to sports cars, and are stable as all get out. id rather fish from this and have to paddle a little longer than have to haul a super long kayak, have increased instability, just to get a little speed and tracking.

i do not intend on standing on this kayak, i've seen it done, if I want to stand I'll bank fish or take out the bass boat.

for me a kayak is about simplicity, ease, and relaxing - if I get to catch a fish on top of that, well.. then it's a win win

Pros & Cons

Pros:
stable, easy to trandport due to size/weight
Cons:
tracking, speed
