Great kayak

Great Kayak. I recommend it. Use it all the time. Spend most my time out in the bay or a couple of yards into the Gulf - Galveston area. I don't use it for long distances, but I can fish for hours if you get a nice comfortable seat. I wish I could reach the front hatch when fishing. I can load and unload the kayak without a problem to the truck.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
Sturdy, Balanced, Durable, Customizable
Cons:
tracking needs to be better

Great and Reliable Fishing Platform!

I have had this kayak for 4 years and it's been a champ - I love fishing from it. I have added modifications to make my time more efficient when I'm on the water. I have spent 6-7 hours straight in this kayak (many times) and it's comfortable even without an upgrade seat back. Both being a part of Johnson Outdoors makes it easy for Humminbird electronics users to add a fish finder/GPS and transducer to this kayak. i have loaded this kayak down with a lot of weight (I weigh 210lbs) when camping and it still rode well in the water. I've also fished in big waters and paddled many miles but that's not where it shines (long distances) but the other benefits outweigh that for me. I would highly recommend!

Pros & Cons

Pros:
Sturdy, Balanced, Durable, Customizable, Maneuverability, Comfortable
Cons:
Tracking could be better

Excellent ocean fishing kayak

This is the shorter version of the 13-15 foot OK angler boats and as such it is more maneuverable and much lighter in weight. The lighter weight makes it easy to carry to the water without the need for a trolley which opens up a lot of fishing spots.

The cockpit is not downsized and provides plenty of room. There is the assumption that the lack of length makes a boat slow and this is the case when the result is a boat that is 5 inches wider and this is not true for the Trident boats.

The Mod Pod is a fantastic aspect of the boat. The kayak comes with the Mod Pod and a Cannon rod holder. There are mounting holes for additional Cannon or Scotty rod holders or holders for a GPS or fish finder or other items and it keeps them at the center of the kayak and out of the way while paddling or fishing.

Boat tracks exceptionally well and I only need the available rudder when there is a strong crosswind across the bays that want to blow the boat into the beach and not where I want to go.

Lots of space behind the seat for a milk crate and gear and easily accessed hatches. The space under the Mod Pod is easy to access while out on the water and provides room for rods and tackle.

Comfortable seat with good back support for extended paddling.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
Lightweight, Mod Pod for holders, etc., tracking
Cons:
none
