Feelfree "Lure 11.5" Hot

Bought a Lure 13.5 late 2015. I was impressed with the stability as standing was very easy and I never felt out of control. After that things were not so impressive. The kayak is very heavy and at 14ft can be a bit of a challenge if you don't have a trailer or sturdy transport wheels. The wheel built into the kayak is nice for concrete ramps, outside of that it locks up in sand and small rocks. Not a huge issue.

After an experience with their customer service I wasn't left with the best impression and that would be an indicator of things to come. The seat has broken twice and now will not raise and stay put without a slight lean to the left. The pre installed strap in the back pulled completely out of the kayak at the screws leaving holes and a crack to patch up. The kayak is now taking on water, a good amount. Could it be my patchjob or something with the hulk as another poster has pointed out? I too load the kayak into the back of a truck.

In fairness, I fish this kayak almost every weekend but at this point it's breaking down too quick and I will eventually sell it for a fraction of what I paid. I also don't know if one year of hard fishing in a kayak is enough to naturally wear it down to this point. You decide.

Worst unstable kayak ever...I have an ascend half the price and way more stable

First off let me start by saying I do love my Feelfree Lure 11.5, it’s an awesome kayak, very stable and I love fishing from it. I’ve had mine for less than a year I want to say I purchased it in Feb-April from ACK. Now for real truth. My buddy talked me into buying it and since then we’ve persuaded a few others to join us with the feelfree. A couple weeks ago my buddy told me he had put a hole in his at the Keel and that I should take a look at mine as well. I did and sure enough it was paper thin. This came from rolling the kayak to the bed of my stock truck (on the wheel) and picking up the back end to place it on the tailgate. Maybe 6”-12” of movement forward. I’ve probably fished my kayak less than 30 times since I’ve had it and it’s always been on open water, no rocks, oyster beds etc. I took it down to ACK where I purchased it and they took pictures and said they would send it to Feelfree to have it looked at but that there were “extreme excessive dragging” that had been done to my kayak and it was the same as if I had “dropped my kayak off a 10 story building and then came in to try and warranty it out”…YEAH that’s what I thought. So they sent the pics in, along with my serial number and about 10 days later I received a voice message that stated that due to the excessive dragging that they would not take care of any of it but I could come down and they could fix the hull that it’s done all the time (I’d have to pay). So I contact Feelfree directly and basically was told the same thing that ACK has plastic and they could fix it. I could completely understand if I abuse my equipment but I baby it, If I’d had it for a year or two I could understand. But this hasn’t even made it once summer. Bottom line is For the money you pay you should have the support/design to take loading/unloading into a standard truck for more than one summer, the kayak is awesome but feelfree support/ability to see their keel design is flawed, thin. Since the start I’ve learned of 3 others that had the same problem.

This Kayak is a fishing machine! It was designed for the fisherman first. The Lure 11.5 is made for stand up fishing or for sitting up high for easier casting or sight casting. I fly fish from the Lure most of the time. Very stable and comfortable to stand up in and sit in. The seat is one of a kind .. I think its actually more comfortable than the seat in my car! whats cool about this seat also is that its able to go completely down into the kayak for faster paddling and to get you out of a windy situation. This is now my GO TO kayak. If there was any CON of the Lure it would be its speed and maybe weight. its not the fastest kayak in the world BUT with that being said... it still paddles very well.. you'd be surprised..just try it! As far as the weight.... FeelFree makes its kayaks durable! and comes with many features other don't offer... the wheel in the keel make it easy to pull the kayak wherever you might go!

I would recommend this kayak to anyone fishing rivers, smaller lakes and flats fishing.
