Predator Standability

I moved out of a Jackson Kilroy to the new predator 13 and absolutely love it! The Kilroy was OK to stand up in but big difference in the predator. I'm 5'11 200 lbs and I was floating backwards and casting in all directions. Plenty of space to mount rod holders eat around the boat. Plenty of storage in front access, center access and rear deck area. Boats a little heavy to maneuver in and out of truck by your self but not the end of the world. For the price and features it's hard to beat. I highly recommend this boat!!!

Predator 13

Great Kayak, don't regret making the decision to purchase it. Would like to see the Center Handles positioned closer to the center of balance to make carrying a little easier when alone. Would like to be able to remove the seat for outside storage. LOVE the Urban Camo Color.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
Stable, comfortable, fast
Cons:
Side Handles, Can't Remove Seat

Great yak for the big fisherman

Finally stepped up to the Predator 13 after killing my backside in a Perception Caster 12.5 and LOVE IT! Im a big guy at 6'3" and 280lbs and this yak is stable, dry, and COMFORTABLE. At my size standing in it is still a little shaky but thats something I will probably have to practice a little, but i can stand. This yak is easy to modify with the removeable plates, but if you want to keep it simple the included modpod is right there for easy rod holder install. The included rod holders and straps are extra nice as you can just lay your rod down next to you and slid the tip into the protectors on the bow and off you go. The seat is amazing, 8 hours seems to fly by with little to no leg fatigue or numbness. The included 1 way scuppers work pretty well just make sure no debris gets stuck in them, and they will bubble up a little if you are heavy and stand but will drain right back out again once you sit. This boat will not break any speed records and tends to track just OK in the high seat position but tracks well in low seat. Its a WIDE boat so I suggest stepping up your paddle another 10 or 20cms especailly if you plan on using high seat a lot. The only real downside to this boat is its weight. Im a pretty strong guy and can lift it no problem but if you are smaller in stature its gonna be a 2 person job especially if you plan to car top this beast. The moulded in bow/stern handles are nice for a 2 man carry or 1 man drag but are a little awkward for lifting and flipping for a car top. Overall this is an awesome boat and well worth the money for a serious yak angler. ***Update*** I have now fished out of the Predator 13 for a good bit and can only INCREASE my praise. The comfort and stability have continued to impress me to no end. I have added a fishfinder to this kayak and it was made a lot more simple with the included transducer scupper. From the factory it is made to work with a standard Dual Beam transducer from Humminbird with little to no modification. It is possible to install a down imaging unit without too much fuss, and the extra features are really nice. The mod pod makes mounting the unit a breeze with the included pre drilled holes. I can not say enough about the Predator 13, if you are in the market for a serious fishing yak give it a try!!.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
super stable, dry, extreme comfort, easy to mod
Cons:
weight

Old Town Predator 13, in a word...Awesome

You should know that we put every product through extensive testing and abuse before ever inviting a manufacturer to become a sponsor. We were very hard on the Predator 13 and it rewrote our book!
