Not so great

First off, I am not one to go out and bash a product, but this kayak was a big disappointment for me. I wanted to like it so much and invested a lot of drive time and effort to get one. Everyone talked about its stability and comfort, I found out neither were true for me. I COULD NOT STAND IN THIS THING FOR THE LIFE OF ME! (I'm not a big guy) I have stood and fished in 6 or so different models of kayaks without falling off so I don't believe this is a balance problem. Native, perception, wilderness, crescent, and ascend where all much more stable and easier to fish out of than this. Turning in tight area's is terrible, and don't even think about taking it out with a cross wind or you'll end up on the other side of the bay. I left it on the bank in the Florida heat for about 3hrs one afternoon, the surface was uneven and ended up tweaking the hull once it cooled down. I had to leave it in the driveway on a flat surface in the sun to get it back into the proper shape. The draft is around 3in more than my fully loaded gheenoe with a 25hp. I mean I was dragging bottom in areas I kayak frequently and never touched bottom before. I know people like these things, but I had an absolutely terrible experience with it. I hope it was just a fluke.

WaveWalk 500

Over All - This is my 1st experience in this style of Kayak. I have been on other Sit in - or Sit on and found them hard my back and knees. The Sitting design when included with a Padded Seat and Back Rest - has allowed two consecutive days of 5+ Hours of fishing and no issues. It does take some getting used to when starting out but over all I still give it a 8 out 10. THininkg

Pros & Cons

Pros:
Easy on the Arms and Back
Cons:
In High Wind - Harder to Maintan drift direction

WaveWalk 500 purchase

We have 3 canoes and this makes the 4th and best kayak we purchased. We have a Slayer 12 and an Angler 160 and go fishing in creeks and lakes about 3 times a week. The Angler causes my legs and feet to fall asleep after an hour or so, the seat in the Slayer is wonderful but it paddles like a barge. I found the WaveWalk and was impressed with the innovative technology. It is faster than my other kayaks and I sit up higher and can move my legs around to different positions. Since I weigh 290 lbs I find it impossible to stand in my other kayaks but was able to stand easily in the WaveWalk. Getting in and out of the kayak is very easy rather than a challenge. edit: Longer term comments.. I have paddled the W 500 about 40 miles in the last month, I like the way it paddles. Fishing is another story, locating my weight so high causes the boat to be less stable than I want for fishing. Also the boat draws nearly 8" with my weight so shallow creeks are out. I think this boat would be perfect if I could just lose another 50 lbs.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
speed, stability and easy to get in and out of , able to sit and stand up high for fishing.
Cons:
Have to purchase 9' long paddle
