Moken 12.5

Great kayak!!! Paddle holders are a little rear but I don't mind it. The front hatch can be accessed while on the water because it’s so stable. I can stand bow before the front hatch to make a dismount onto land. The hatch between your legs is deep enough for an extra reel, rod holder, and small tackle boxes. Uni track system can be used for anything….Anything!!!!!! The crate keepers on back are huge bonus with the rod keepers and rod holders mounted. Molded in handles are perfectly placed and the wheel in back is a little wobbly but works great once you get the hang of how it rolls. Perfect fit for a milk crate with the tie down straps included. Even has a handle in the stern to assist with moving the boat from a vehicle. The handles molded in mean you don’t have to replace them and sturdy enough to secure your yak and lock it down in your vehicle. I can put 5 rods in my front hatch and travel with them until I get to my destination. The boat drains beautifully and keeps you dry. The platform is very stable for pushing around and fishing with a strap to assist with standing or sitting, mostly sitting. This yak cuts through water with ease and seat is top of the line and even better with the adjustable foot pedal controls by the seat. Install of the rudder is a breeze with pre plummed rubber hoses to run your lines. Standing is a breeze and you will find if a ski boat buzzes you, you can get this thing to lean a long way and still right itself.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
Molded in handles, wheel in the keel, stability, seat, uni track system, milk crate keepers
Cons:
I want another one.

Moken 12.5 review

The Moken 12.5 is the most versatile of the Moken series kayaks. The 12.5 is 12' 8" long, 32" wide and weighs 72 lbs. This Kayak has the best of both worlds when it comes to speed and stability. Stand up fishing is easily done, while it is also able to get you out to your spot without extra paddling labor. the details in the kayak are what sets this boat apart from the others. The drainage system is well thought out and keeps the entire boat dry. The seat that comes with the kayak is the King Fisher seat, I would say its one of the most comfortable stock seats on the market. The front hatch system is completely screw hole free, no holes for water to ever leak through. The molded in handles are something that wont ever break, get in the way, or have screw holes to ever leak. The standing platform is very durable. The boat is rudder ready, everything runs through the boat even the rudder release cord... also less screw holes in the boat. There are no plastic pad eyes stock on the Moken series of boats. Comes with two rod holders. Comes with Milk Crate tie down, so simple but a very cool feature. The track system comes with one of the Uni-track mounts. The Uni-Track allows you to move and remove your accessories with ease. Last but not least, the wheel in the keel, very helpful while transporting.

Personally I love this boat. I fish lakes, rivers, bays with this boat every chance I can. I stand up fly fish rivers, and sit and fish lakes all with the same boat. stability without the decrease in speed is what keeps me in a Moken 12.5
