Tarpon 140

Fish Monterey Bay, San Luis Reservoir and O'Neill Forebay as my primary fishing
locations. I have landed a lot of Stripers, Cod,Trout, and Bass from this vessel. Storage areas are huge but hard to reach while sitting in the kayak.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
fast, durable, comfortable, storage area
Cons:
14 feet awkward, hard to reach storage areas when sitting

Love It

I have paddled in rough seas and strong winds but this still handle beautifully. The seat is so comfortable I could stay in it all day. My only complaint is I wish there was a divider or something so all my stuff wouldn't slide around in the compartment. I would highly recommend this yak to any serious fisherman.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
Easy to maneuver
Cons:
Storage

Tarpon 140 Versatility review

Awesome kayak. I purchased the Tarpon 140 in 2009 and its still in great shape. It is an extremely versatily kayak, I have taken it from creeks into the open ocean, chasing everything from bass to kingfish.
This kayak is FAST, I have yet to be outpaced by any other paddle yak. There might be faster boats out there, but I have not seen them. Its stability isnt bad, I can stand in it, but standing and fishing is something that may require a bit of practice. I have spend 100s of hours in it, so its not an issue for me. The kayak tracks great with or without a rudder. The hull is sturdy and has easily handled years of fishing around oysters. I am not a big fan of the storage, not a huge issue, but my main complaint.
I highly reccomend this kayak to anyone that is looking for a well rounded boat, or kayakers that routinely paddle long distances. Its a great kayak and I have brought hundreds of fish into it. The Tarpon 140 definetly gets my stamp of approval.
