Kayak Make & Model

Wilderness Systems
Aspire 105
MSRP ($):
Length (ft):

The Aspire 105 is not a dedicated fishing kayak, but it is part of the versatile sit-inside recreation range by Wilderness Systems. This means that it lacks some of the angling specific features you'll find on their A.T.A.K and Radar kayaks, but will also make a smaller dent in your bank account. The versatility of the Aspire 105 is useful for anyone in search of a decent kayak for recreational use as well as the occasional fishing trip.

The Aspire 105 is a 10'6" kayak with a weight of 48 LBS and a maximum capacity of 400 LBS. It is 29" wide and a cocpit width of 23.5" while the cockpit is 51.5" long. It is avaialble in a variety of colors, including Midnight, Galaxy, Breeze Blue, Mango and Atomic, although some of these are limited in quantity, so they might be harder to track down.

Starting at the front of the kayak you'll find an ergonomic carry handle, which along with the one on the back makes the Aspire 105 comfortable to carry. Up front there is also bungee cord lashes to secure gear of any shape or size. The Aspire 105 has a molded-in dashboard, which is ideal for smaller gear that you want within easy reach at all times. Inside the cockpit you will also find the SlideLock XL Foot Brace System. The advantage of this system is the large, padded food rests, which offers plenty of comfort and support. Thanks to an easy to adjust locking lever you can be sure that the Aspire 105 can accomodate you no matter what your height is. Thigh and knee padding is essential for sit-inside kayaks, so thankfully the Aspire 105 does not dissapoint in this regard. It is also great to see that the Aspire 105 comes with a Phase 3 AirPro kayak seat, which is one of the most comfortable ones on the market. Not only is it fully adjustable, but it allows for great airflow thanks to its mesh fabric covers and honeycomb-vented 3D foam. If you are looking for a seat that can support your lower back while still keeping you cool, then this is it. In the back of the kayak there is an Orbix stern hatch, which is perfect for keeping your gear safe and dry. The Aspire 105 also comes with stern bulkhead foam to ensure you have some extra buoyancy on the water. Finally, this kayak makes use of the TruTak Adjustable Skeg System with cockpit control, so even in currents and wind you can easily stay on course.

Before taking this kayak out on a fishing trip you'll need to custom-fit a few accessories, but even that is not an issue with the Aspire 105. It is compatible with a number of Wilderness Systems accessories, such as their custom dry bags, mesh storage sleeve tackle boxes and more. Overall, this kayak is fast, stable and very versatile, which makes it ideal for everyone from beginners to advanced paddlers.
