The Perception Swifty Deluxe 9.5 is a versatile sit-inside kayak that is aimed at both new paddlers as well as seasoned kayakers. It is a recreation kayak that can also be used for fishing and works best on lakes, ponds, slow-moving rivers as well as calm coastal environments. Perception engineered the Swifty to be easy to paddle by kayaks of all skill levels and it also features quick maneuverability along with good tracking. It has a stable hull design and, thanks to its large cockpit, it is easy to enter and exit this kayak.
The Swifty Deluxe 9.5 is a 9'6" long kayak with a width of 28.5" and a carry weight of about 44 lbs. It features a maximum capacity of 325 lbs, which should be adequate for most casual angers and those who prefer to keep things simple. It's definitely not a kayak for overnight trips where you want to take a lot of stuff with you, but overall what you get is not bad for the price range.
This kayak has a multi-chine hull design and features more than enough stability to make it ideal for fishing. It comes with a padded seat back and seat pad as well as keepers foot braces. Unfortunately, the Swifty Deluxe 9.5 does not have any type of padding to protect your knees or thighs. The fact that the seat back is not fixed by anything aside from the adjustment strap might also be an issue for some anglers. The adjustable foot braces are great for accommodating paddlers of different sizes and this kayak also has an easy access dashboard, which comes complete with a cup holder and small gear storage.
For storage, the Swifty Deluxe 9.5 has an oval storage hatch for keeping your gear dry, as well as deck rigging for additional storage. In addition, it has molded-in fishing rod holders, but unfortunately no swivel rod holder. It also has a handy paddle park and you'll find handles on the front and rear of the kayak for easy transport. All in all, the Swifty Deluxe 9.5 is not a game changer in any way, but it does offer a decent experience at a very affordable price, which makes it worth a look.
