Brooklyn Kayak Company UH-PK11

Kayak Make & Model

Model:
UH-PK11
MSRP ($):
2,199.00
Length (ft):
10.5

The Brooklyn Kayak Company has a couple of angling specific kayaks available, but the UH-PK11 is not only one of their most compact models, but it is also pedal driven for extra convenience. The UH-PK11 is a sit on top kayak that features a roto-molded UV-protected HDPE hull with a streamlined design. It is 10'6" long and has a width of about 2.8 feet. Unlike some of the larger, heavier fishing kayaks by BKC, the UH-PK11 only weighs about 60 pounds, but still supports a maximum load capacity of 420 pounds.

The lower weight of this kayak makes it easier to transport and load, but it also performs quite well out on the water. In addition to built-handles, which you can find at the bow as well as stern of the kayak, it also has a paddle keeper. This is handy if you want to make use of the pedal drive system of the UH-PK11. This system makes use of bicycle-style pedals, complete with adjustable straps for your feet, to turn the high efficiency propeller. If you want even greater power and speed, the pedal drive system can be removed entirely and a trolling motor installed with ease. The kayak even has a hand-operated rudder for precision controlling.

When it comes to angling specific features, the UH-PK11 doesn't disappoint as it has three flush-mounted rod holders as well as an adjustable ergonomic seat, so you can remain comfortable for as long as it takes to get your catch hooked. Another thing that anglers won't have to worry about with the UH-PK11 is storage space. In addition to a large watertight hatch that can be found on the bow of the kayak, there is also another compartment that is right behind the seat. Both of these make use of dry bag inserts, so you can store your valuables without having to worry about anything getting wet. For larger items, such as your dry bag or tackle box you'll want to make use of the spacious rear cargo area, which also features bungee tie-down straps.

Overall, the Brooklyn Kayak Company UH-PK11 is a very decent fishing kayak for anglers in search of something that is compact, but spacious and comfortable. The pedal drive system is not as high-tech as some of the ones featured on other kayaks, but it doesn't add too much to the weight of the kayak either and it is easy to operate. In addition, it enables anglers to cover a lot of distance very quickly, which is great if you have some out of the way spots at your favorite fishing location.
