The Advanced Elements AdvancedFrame DS-XL Series kayak is an exclusive limited edition kayak offered by AirKayaks. It is basically a version of the very popular AdvancedFrame inflatable kayak that is available in a limited edition blue color and that has upgraded accessories. It is also five inches longer, with dimensions of 10'10” by 33”. The total weight of the kayak, with seat and floor, is about 35 lbs and it has a maximum loading weight of about 350 lbs. Folded, the kayak is about 31 x 18 x 10 inches, which means it is very compact.

This kayak features a rigid-formed bow and stern, complete with aluminum rib and it also has an integrated tracking fin. Since it is an inflatable, it also has military style air valves and Twistlok valves, so it is compatible with most standard pumps without the need to resort to an adapter. The kayak is constructed from durable double PVC-coated nylon ripstop material with tarpaulin fabric and seams electronically welded for added durability. The kayak is durable enough to be used in either flat or salt water and also features an adjustable foot peg, which is something the classic AdvancedFrame kayak lacked. Since the kayak is longer and has a high pressure floor, it is not only able to hold more gear, but also glide better on the water.

Since the floor of the kayak features a drop stitch construction, it offers better inflation as well as pressure compared to a standard PVC floor. The kayak upper is also constructed of 600 denier polyester/PVC laminate in a diamond ripstop material, so it is fairly durable. As for the hull, it is made from puncture-resistant PVC tarpaulin that has electronically welded seams. For gear you have bungee deck lacing in the bow of the kayak as well as four plastic D-rings and eight cloth D-rings up front. An additional four D-rings are located on the rear deck. The cockpit area of the kayak is quite roomy and water is kept out, thanks to two inflatable coaming tubes. You’ll also find a front center zipper that adds an addition 30 inches to the cockpit if you want easier entry or more space. In addition, there is a rear zipper that opens 12 more inches, which is useful for storing things behind the seat. Finally, the cockpit area has neoprene padded knuckle guards, to keep your knuckles safe while you paddle. Rod holders are unfortunately not included with this kayak, but can be added to the seat back, which transforms it into a decent angling kayak.

If you travel a lot and want something very compact for your angling needs, then the Advanced Elements AdvancedFrame DX-XL Series kayak is certainly worth a closer look.
