Sea Eagle is known for their rugged Explorer series of kayaks and their Fishing Explorer offers more of the same, but with more angling specific features. According to Sea Eagle, this kayak was designed by avid fishermen and aimed squarely at avid fishermen, so it is not just beefed up, but also fully accessorized compared to the standard Explorer series.

The Sea Eagle Fishing Explorer has a total weight capacity of 575 libs and designed to be used by one person. It has a total weight of 51 lbs and, since it is an inflatable kayak, has three chambers. It is 11’-6” in length and 3’-3” wide, which means it offers plenty of space. There is no need to worry about durability with the Fishing Explorer as it is nearly indestructible and features 2000 Denier reinforced protective layers. In fact, the rigidity and durability of the Fishing Explorer make it suitable for standup fishing.

To make this kayak more appealing to anglers, Sea Eagle has included no less than six built-in rod holders, which should be more than enough for some serious fishing. It also has forward as well as aft spray skirts and you can keep all your tools and smaller gear safe thanks to the Sea Eagle exclusive accessory belts this kayak has. In addition, the Fishing Explorer has a fully adjustable foot brace for extra comfort and the kayak is also completely self-bailing, so it handles any kind of condition out on the water with ease. With the included 40” FishRuler you don’t have to fumble around to measure your catches either. The anchor trolley D-rings included with the Sea Eagle are also extremely useful. In total the Fishing Explorer has 22 d-rings that you can use to secure your gear as well as seat and it also has bungee rope lacing for additional options.

The biggest advantage that the Fishing Explorer has to offer is its portability and it is much more convenient to store than traditional fishing kayaks. The fact that it has been designed specifically for angling is also very clear and it can even make use of an optional motormount attachment thanks to its Sea Eagle motormount receivers. Even without a motor, the Fishing Explorer handles great and thanks to the removable rear skeg, it offers increased tracking when you want to use the kayak for flatwater touring.
