Brooklyn Kayak Company describes their UH-RA220 Riptide Angler as the “Swiss Army Knife” of fishing kayaks, which is quite a lofty claim. However, considering how feature packed it is, it is also hard to argue against this claim. This sit on top fishing kayak has a hull length of 11'5” and hull weight of 70 lbs. While its weight is somewhat on the heavy side, it is easy to paddle once you get it in the water. It has a maximum load capacity of up to 440 lbs and is available in gray camo, green camo or blue.

The Riptide Angler has a broad hull with deep channels, which means it offers good stability as well as enhanced control. The angular design of the bow also ensures reliable tracking. The stability of the Riptide Angler is great for long casts as you can stand up and use it as a fishing platform without fear of falling overboard. Those who prefer sitting will enjoy the deluxe upright kayak seat that is included. Since this is a sizable kayak, it stands to reason that it also offers ample storage space. In the rear of this kayak you’ll find a built-in cargo area, complete with elastic tie-down straps, while three watertight compartments provide additional space for stowing items.

Anglers will appreciate the paddle parks of this kayak as it allows you to secure your paddle while you are busy fishing. This is something that should be on all fishing kayaks as getting engrossed in your catch only to find that your paddle has drifted away isn’t a pleasant experience. The Riptide Angler also has three rod holders, two of which are flush-mount and one adjustable rod holder for your primary fishing pole. To make the task of getting your kayak to the water a little easier, it has side handles for overland carrying. If you want to secure the kayak to a cargo rack or trailer you can also make use of its forward handle that is carved into the hull. Finally, the Riptide Angler has a foot-operated rudder for better control.

The Riptide Angler is a good kayak if you can get it for an affordable price. It has plenty of space for gear, great stability and tracks well.
