The Pescador range from Perception Kayaks should be well known to anglers and the Pilot is the newest member of the lineup. The name derives from the Pilot Drive pedal system and according to Perception the purpose of this kayak is to deliver big performance without the associated big price tag.

Thanks to the Pilot Drive this is a kayak that enables you to cruise all day without much effort. The Pilot also features Turbo Flaps for noise reduction, which has the added benefit of keeping turbulence under the kayak to a minimum too. Thanks to the Quick Key, it is easy to launch or dock the Pilot and the drive is lightweight enough that it can be stored inside a recess in the hull while it is not in use.

Like most pedal kayaks the Pilot allows for forward and reverse motion and thanks to its low-profile rudder steering control it is also able to deliver a very tight turning radius. This makes it perfect for anglers who want to get into hard to reach places for the best catch. Obviously none of this would matter if the kayak wasn’t comfortable to sit in for extended periods, but the Pilot avoids this issue with its captain’s Chair that offers plenty of adjustability. The Pilot has bow storage pods, with a transducer scupper, to safely tuck away your electronics and other gear along with bow and stern tankwells. The two YakAttack GearTracs takes the hassle out of mounting more accessories and the four molded-in rod holders provides ample space for your fishing rods.

Although the Pescador Pilot only launched late in 2016, it is already making waves as one of the most affordable pedal drive kayaks that caters to anglers.
