Awsome fishing kayak!

After looking around for a fishing yak, I come across the catch 120 and ordered one. I liked the fact that I could customize it exactly the way I want it. There is plenty of room to mount pretty much anything you could want or need. The only thing I've added to mine is one 12" yak gear track and pole holder to the front, but there is planes for more. I've had it out on the Puget Sound to drop my crab pot off, I felt really comfortable wile doing so. The boat is extremely stable wile dropping the pot and retrieving it. This last weekend I had it out on a fairly large lake for fishing and just paddling around with the family. I moved all over the boat and stood up on it a few times and never once felt like I was going to tip. There is all kinds of storage both on top and inside, while on the lake I had an ice chest with lunch for 5, a 5 gal bucket and my tackle box with room to spare. I am able to store my gear and poles inside the boat while transporting it. The catch 120 is easy to maneuver but it is a bit slow; but I did get it for fishing. I can still however keep up with my kids and wife if we are just out on the lake. I love the seat, it is very comfortable and easy to adjust.

Great fishing kayak and I love the price!

I had the chance to fish out of a Pelican Catch 120 2x while down in the Keys. I was extremely impressed with this kayak and especially when it costs under $800! The kayak I had was stock so only the included accessories like rod holders and paddle keepers. You will need to add an anchor trolley as the scuppers are not large enough for you to put a stake out pole through it.

I used it on the flats and in the bay and it performed extremely well. The specs say it is 69 lbs but it honestly felt lighter than that. It was nice fishing from a kayak that I can easily haul around.

Bottom line you would be hard pressed to find a better out of the box fishing kayak for under $800 period.

Great value!

I had heard a little buzz about the Catch 120 and was intrigued. When I saw that Academy had it, I snagged it right away. Despite the hype, I have found that this yak lives up to its billing. It's got a stable platform for standing and fishing. The seat is very comfortable and breathable. I like how it can be easily positioned in the low or high setting. The Catch isn't the fastest yak out there, but that's okay. I'm on it to fish, not to race. Compared to some of the others out there, I would highly recommend it. There's plenty of room to rig it up. It could use a bottle holder. But other than that I'm happy with it.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
Low Price, Stable, Ready To Fish
Cons:
Not very fast
