Cuda 14 fishing yak

This is a great combination of a do most everything well kayak. It is decently fast and stable and has an abundance of storage for large items like fishing rods. I mostly tend to use mine in a large lake so the 14' size is really not a big issue but if I fished more small creeks, it may be difficult to turn around in some tighter areas.

Because it is a larger kayak, that means it does weigh more and that can be overbearing if you are not used to it. It certainly does help to have two people to move this kayak off the top of a vehicle or carry it to the water if you don't have a cart.

I do like the space it offers and being 6'3", I have long legs but don't feel at all cramped. It is also plenty stable enough to stand in, although it does take a little getting used to as it is not unite as wide as some of the other kayaks out today and can be a bit wobbly until you get used to it.

Overall, this is a wonderful kayak that will hold its value should you decide to sell it down the road.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
Fast, stable, comfortable, great seat, and well built
Cons:
Deck rails lack good flat spots for rails, and besides the center hatch and a couple other flat places towards the bo, there is not really a convenient spot for any

Jackson Cuda 14 - Marsh Machine

I’ve owned a Jackson Cuda 14 since the spring of 2012 and could not be happier with my choice. I spend the majority of my time fishing the marsh and flats around the upper Texas coast where I enjoy sight-casting redfish in supper skinny water.

The Cuda tracks well without a rudder and has good speed for a kayak that gives you the ability to stand. The Elite seat 2.0 is a major selling point for me because I stay dry and comfortable all day without any back soreness. I can carry plenty of gear in the center storage hatch and you can add or remove accessories without drilling into the kayak thanks to the Yak Attack gear tracks. Great American made product.

Great first time kayak!

This is the first boat I ever spent any significant amount of time in, and wow am I spoiled. It will be the boat of which all others will be compared. Prior to fishing out Cuda 14,the only prior experience I've had in a kayak are the numerous demos I've been to.

First I'll start off with the speed. The Jackson Cuda cuts through water like a knife. It tracks very well without a rudder, requiring only the slightest stroke adjustments when under way.

I personally had some issues with the stability in the high seat position, which could easily be because of my limited experience in the seat of a kayak, any wobble on the boat was easily rectified by place the seat low though and I was quite comfortable from then on.

As for the durability, this thing is a tank. The plastic is solid and appears thicker than other similar boats, which adds to the weight. Even with the weight after a little practice and proper technique I was roofing the boat in a matter of minutes. Plus there is a replaceable scuff guard on the keel.

The features on this boat are tapped out. 2 rod holders, a front and rear hatch and a center console that can be opened from the seat to house a fish bag or other goodies. There is space on each side of the seat for plano boxes as well as room for boxes under the seat. Rod tip cover at the bow to prevent snags from low hanging branches and such. Numerous bungies to strap equipment down. Lastly one of the most comfortable "lawn style" seat available.

In conclusion if you are looking for a solid fishing kayak, without the need to add on numerous accessories. It's got speed, comfort and all the bells and whistles to put you on fish then the Jackson Kayak Cuda 14 is for you.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
Features, this boat is ready to fish out of the "box". Fast
Cons:
Stability in the high position is less than be desired, a little heavy compared to similar styled kayaks.

Can't beat a Cuda

When i purchased my Cuda it was the first year model and with new arrivals there are tweaks that need to be made. With the high low seat I never put it in the high position i feel top heavy, I've flipped this kayak with barely turning around off center. Against other kayaks the speed of this yak is mediocre. This is a fabulous starter for the money.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
Fun
Cons:
uncomfortable seat

Cuda 14

Have only paddled the Cuda on a handful of trips so far, but have to say I love it! I am a fairly large man at 6'3" and almost 300lb. This thing still does not sit very low in the water with me and my gear. Little to no water coming in through the scuppers. Very stable, so much so I can sit off the side with no issues. The seat allows for hours and hours of paddling, with no issues. LOTS of storage for fishing gear, poles, etc, and is set up 100% with the Kayak fisherman in mind.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
Super stable, lots of room, plenty of storage
