It's always interesting to see what types of new designs and innovations the big names in the fishing tackle industry comes up with.
Brands such as Z-Man are constantly trying to outdo themselves, which is obviously good news for anglers. The latest lure from Z-Man that is sure to put a smile on the face of any kayak angler is the BullZEye Spinnerbait.
Z-Man has a proven track record when it comes to thoroughly researching their lures to come up with designs that catch more fish. Sticking to this tried and tested method they have come up with a spinnerbait that has been forged around a highly resonant wire backbone. Daniel Nussbaum, Z-Man president, said that before they settled on the 17-7 stainless LiveWire frame a ton of different materials were vetted first. He mentioned that LiveWire was eventually chosen because of the way it excels at transmitting intense blade sound and vibration. Nussbaum also added that its a super high-grade stainless steel wire that's a thinner gauge than what is found on most traditional spinnerbaits, but that it is quite resilient. The fact that it is not electroplated was an intentional choice so that it has a dull, neutral finish, which blends in much better than something that would give off unnatural reflections.
Captain C.A. Richardson, a decades-long saltwater specialist and host of Flats Class TV, is the co-designer of the new BullZEye. According to Richardson, the BullZeye mimics the flash and distinctive vibrations of baitfish much better than any other lure. Richardson also states that he has been having a blast using the lure on bull redfish, but that snook, juvenile goliath grouper, and a lot of other fish also like to bite the lure.
The BullZEye features the neutral-colored LiveWire arm with custom size 4 and 4.5 gold-plated Colorado blades thumping and flashing at the end of it. These transmit the fish-attracting cues while a robust stainless steel ball-bearing swivel amplifies rotation while also ensuring durability. An EyeStrike Swimbait Eye jighead is connected to the LiveWire arm via a specialized quick-clip attachment. Not only is it easy to replace if desired, but it also adds some visual enticement. Fish that strike the lure will quickly feel the sting of a wicked-sharp 3/0 heavy duty VMC jig hook. Best of all, the BullZEye has a compact profile, so it can easily glide in and out of the skinniest water as well as through some of the thickest grass. It's no wonder that Richardson classifies the BullZEye Spinnerbaits as an alpha-dog type lure.
You'll find the Z-Man BullZEye Spinnerbait at outdoor retailers for an MSRP of $4.99. For more information visit the official website at www.zmanfishing.com.
