Megabass "IP-79" is a "large caliber, narrow spool" baitcasting reel. It is made of ultra duralumin, a strong but lightweight metal.  Listed as freshwater reel designed to minimize backlash even with lightweight lures. The IP-79 weight and retrieval specs were geared toward a speedy retrieval all the while reducing "winding weight fatigue." This reel is sure to be an asset to any kayak angler's collection.

Megabass IP 79

I am a collector and user of fine quality tackle. The Megabass IP 79 certainly falls into the category of quality tackle. Don't let the prettiness fool you, this is a quality fishing tool. The IP 79 is a souped up Daiwa Zillion. If you have never fished a Megabass reel, you owe it to yourself to use one. The Zillion is a quality reel straight from Daiwa, but after Yuki Ito gets done with the reel, it is a totally different animal.

High speed 7.9:1 gear ratio, 10BB, and weighs 7.5 oz. This reel is a joy to fish with. The high speed is perfect for working frogs and bottom contact baits, but can be used for just about any bait with the exception of deeper diving crankbaits. I use mine specifically for frogs, and it is an awesome frog reel. Paired with the right rod, this combo feels like an extension of my arm while fishing.

This reel is an expensive fishing tool, and not for everybody, but if you want to fish the best, then give this reel a chance, you will not be disappointed.
