Stay bug free using the ThermaCELL "Olive Appliance Mosquito Repellent Applicator". This lightweight, cordless device provides a 15' x 15' mosquito-repelling radius and works by dispensing a small amount of repellent into the air over a long period of time. A butane cartridge provides just enough heat to release the repellent from a small saturated mat for an odor free mosquito deterrent.

Seems to work

I've been using ThermaCell for a couple of years now and it seems to work. I think if the mosquitoes have a choice of going near me with the Thermacell or going someplace else they go someplace else. Stock up on refills at end of season when everything is discounted.

Don't walk...Run...Getcha one (or two)

I was working for a "major outdoor retailer" and after a few months of watching these things fly off the shelf as well as listening to my customers sing there praises I bought my first ThemaCell. Since then I've purchased two more and can't imagine going camping without one (or two). This thing really DOES work (with certain limitations). We place one on the picnic table while camping (or sitting out on the deck) and I would guess it probably deters 80 to 90 percent of the mosquitoes within a 10 to 12 foot radius (nothing is going to get rid of ALL of them). I also like to leave one close to the tent door to deter the little biters from getting in the tent. Please note that wind has a pretty significant effect when using this product, make sure to place it a few feet upwind from your location. As far as using it in a Kayak, I've personally not done that yet BUT several of my former customers have mentioned that they found using a couple of ThermaCells helped keep the insects at bay while out on their pontoons and power boats (again wind can determine the overall effectiveness).

Thermacell

Living in the south, I have the pleasure of fighting mosquitoes almost year round. Most of the time good old fashioned DEET does the job well, but there are times when you need something else. For me, that something else is the Thermacell mosquito repellent appliance.

It does a great job of keeping the bloodsuckers at bay. You can literally tell when the pad has become unusable as the bugs will begin to gnaw on you. The butane cartridges last about 12 hours and the repellent pads last about three hours. If you plan on being our for a while, make sure you plan accordingly.

The Thermacell is supposed to be good for a 15' x 15' area, but in my experience that distance is a bit smaller. I keep it right on my body the whole time. There is no smell to speak of, but you will hear a very slight hiss from the butane.

My only complaint is that I wish they had a larger version with a bigger pad so it would last a bit longer.

Give it a shot, I think you will be happy with your purchase!
