What's Going With YakAngler

Every once in a while I like to give the YakAngler Nation a heads up with whats happening on YakAngler.com.  We are in the process of changing web hosts.  We will be moving from Justhost.com to YakSushi Media.  No this doesn't have anything to do with our recent outage we were planning the move anyway.

Originally the plan was to have our new site up and running by the end of September so we wouldn't have to migrate the old YakAngler.com.  Well building our new website has taken longer than I thought so we have decided to migrate the current site to YakSushi Media and save our selfves some money.New site?  Yes we have been talking about rebuilding YakAngler from the ground up.  YakAngler.com had been an evolution and there are several things I wish we would have done differently.  My plan is to have a site visually superior with better user integration then our current setup.

YakSushi Media? If you couldn't figure it out by the name I've also started a side project and created my own media company.  As our site has grown I've had more and more people ask about helping them out with their own websites, hosting, configuration, and logos.  So a media company was a natural progression.  Check out Redfish Chucks blog chuckskayakadventures.com or Rob DeVore's soon to be announced blog for some examples.

Our latest contest "Old Buildings" will end October 6th so don't forget to send in your photo for a chance at a new pair of Costa Del Mar sunglasses!  The next photo contest was the brain child of Mark Wheeler aka Landing Crew.  We will be giving away the MTI Solaris PFD I just did a review on.  Details to follow, but it should be hilarious to see what some of you come up with!

Finally we believe that many of the kayak fishing websites out there lack women specific information, and we know YakAngler can do better then our competition.  We have been in contact with several top kayak accessory vendors pushing to get more female specific products or review.  I have also contacted Anna Levesque who is a world-class paddler ,instructor and owner of watergirlsatplay.com.  She has agreed to share some of her women specific kayaking articles with the YakAngler readers.  That's about it don't forget to show your support for YakAngler and pick something up from our store.  Adam and I keep this place running our of our pockets and it would be nice to actually break even!

Mark "YakSushi" Watanabe is the Co. Founder of YakAngler.com, "He built this site!". He considers himself a mediocre fisherman and an unexceptional writer. He's the devoted father of a ton of little sushis (Air Quotes) and everyday tech ninja.
