Our first stop will be the President’s Day Boondoggle at Crooked River State Park in St. Marys, GA. Lucky for us, the snow and ice look like they are going to spare that sector of Georgia. Friday through Sunday, we will be back to our Boondogglin’ roots with a laissez-faire gather of old friends and new. If you are in the area, stop by the park and say “Hello.” If you’re unable to locate any Boondogglers, feel free to yell “Boooonnnnddddoooggglllleeee” at the top of your lungs. You’ll be sure to stir up the Boondogglers in your vicinity and hear them return your greeting, allowing you to hone in on their location.
Monday we pack up and head down to KARS Park, home to last year’s President’s Day Boondoggle. We will be hooking up with Blake and Deanna from NuCanoe to discuss some business and fish. Luckily we’ll have Charles Levi, Jr. (aka Redfish Chuck) to guide us along while we target reds and specks at the ‘Goon on Tuesday.
Tuesday night we pack everything up and head further south, down to the Florida Keys. We don’t have any lodging lined up for this portion of the trip. Hopefully we’ll find a place to crash and locate some fish Wednesday.
Thursday we make the drive northwest to Flamingo Campground in the Everglades. Flamingo will host this year’s AFWC. The plan is to make camp Thursday night and pre-fish the area Friday. Friday night is the captain’s meeting for the tournament, and Saturday the AFWC is on! Adam and I have no plans on winning the tournament; if we can avoid getting lost and having to call for rescue, we’ll call that a win!
Sunday we pack up for the long seventeen-hour drive back to the cold and snow in Louisville, KY.
During our Boondoggle/AFWC road trip we will have limited access to the website, so please help us keep an eye on things. We will be turning the store off so we don’t get orders piling up that need to be shipped.
We’ll have a full recap of our trip, the Boondoggle, and the AFWC. Hopefully we’ll get to see some of you at our various stops next week.
