Movin On Up

To quote the ‘80s show, “Well, we're movin on up, to the East Side. To a deluxe apartment in the sky. Movin on up, To the East Side. We finally got a piece of the pie.”. No, YakAngler isn’t moving office buildings, but we are moving. We have outgrown our hosting platform, and are forced to drop the big bucks on a more robust server.

What does this mean for the kayak fishing community known as The YA Nation? The overall user experience should be enhanced. “Cool! Does this mean that majestic rainbows and magic unicorns will fly out of the screen?” No, but everyone should notice pages loading much faster, decreased “invalid token” messages, and a lot fewer errors in general.

What does this mean for YakAngler? Aside from the obvious - MUCHO DENARO - “Buy your supporter badges and YA Gear!”? The new webhost should give me fewer errors and issues to deal with on a daily basis. We should also see an overall increase in the community, because a happy user spreads the YA Love.

When will this happen? Adam and I have already purchased the server, and are working with the host to move everything. It should be transparent to you guys, but issues can always arise. So, if you post an update on YakSocial Saturday night and Sunday morning it’s gone, you can pretty much bet it’s because we are on the new host.

If you have comments or questions about the move, please use the article comments below. I’ll address them as soon as possible.

Update: 7/30/2012

The site has been moved to our new dedicated server and the name servers have propagated to the ISP's in the US. We lost a few posts in the forum that were added during the name servers propagation. Enjoy the new speed!
