A Box Life?

A Box Life? Photograph by Mark Watanabe

Today I came home to a pair of Columbia Drainmakers anxiously waiting to be opened on my front porch. Snatching them up as I walked into the house I didn’t pay any attention to the card board box they were shipped in. It’s a box; it doesn’t have a story… Right?

I’m not sure how many of you are aware, but Columbia offers a neat shipping option “A Reused Box”. On these reused boxes, Columbia attaches a “Keep it going” sticker with a bar code. You can scan the barcode with your smart phone or enter the code on the sticker to track the boxes travels.

Turns out that this was the first trip on my boxes reused journey, a mere 1,948 miles traveled from Portland OR, to Louisville KY. Hopefully the recipient of this box will do the same. Check out aboxlife.com to see how Columbia Sportswear idea is making a great impact on the environment.

Next time you order from Columbia Sportswear or any of the other participating ABoxLife companies make sure you select a reused box so you can track a boxes life.

Thanks Kristin, we like the program too! So much so that YakAngler will be participating, we've already started the paperwork!

This is a cool idea! I looked up the package in the photo. Looks like you reshipped it! But I couldn't find where it was picked up at....
