Help Name A Kayak Hand Paddle

Edward Halm from Backwater Paddle Company contacted me yesterday needing some input from YakAngler.com. He wanted to know which of the names provided was best suited for their prototype hand paddle. As I was replying to his email with the name that I though fit the best I thought… Shouldn’t this come for the YA Nation? After all YakAngler would be nothing without our dedicated user base of kayak anglers!

Your Kayak On The Water Contest!

It's time again for the next YakAngler.com photo contest.  A few months ago we asked our community to vote on what type of contest we should run.  You guys have spoken and the top pick from the voting polls was Your Kayak On The Water.  We have lined up some great sponsors for our photo contest this month.  All entries will be included into our photo gallery.  Here's how it will work....

My Story GKF Tourney Lake Harding

Let me start the scene from my point of view:

For those who do not know, I live in the PacNW.  I haven't traveled a whole lot.  I've never been to the places I've found myself this weekend (Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, Georgia, or Alabama, in that order).  I had never met Mark, Adam or anyone else on this forum or in the tournament.  I was very much the stranger in a seemingly lost world.

The Kayak Hand Paddle

Kayak fishing is one of the fastest growing sports in the outdoor sporting and paddle sports markets.  With this explosion of growth, came opportunity.  Kayak fishermen are beginning to reap the benefits of new concepts and technologies in advancing their sport.

Having said that, kayak anglers and sportsmen are clamoring for new equipment, paddle gear and accessories to stay ahead of their competition.

“It was a fishing comedy on water.”  I mused from afar.  Jim was in the salt water flats flailing a seven foot kayak paddle.  He was trying to hold onto an eight foot fishing pole while chasing a redfish through the mangroves.   I thought to myself, “He needs another hand to juggle that kayak paddle and hold his rod.”

I came across the press release below while searching the net for all things kayak fishing related.  I have not yet used this product so I can't honestly say whether its functionality has the "awe" factor that its look does, I wanted to share with you readers anyways.

Catch More Fish During Florida Winters

Well it's winter in Florida and the water is getting colder and colder by the day. Most anglers stay home when its cold not because it's cold but because they haven't had much luck fishing this time of year. For the next few months there is no need to set the alarm clock, yep go ahead and sleep in. Winter is the one time of year when the fishing is better in the afternoon then at six in the morning because the sun has time to warm up the flats and this gets the fish moving. But just because the fish are moving doesn't mean it will be easy to get them to bite, the fish are still sluggish from the cold so it takes some looking around to see just what is going on below the surface.
