Review Ouzo Baits

A few weeks ago I was given a few new soft plastics to try from Ouzo Baits. Being that I mainly use soft plastics I am a tough guy to impress when it comes to new products, you know the old saying "if it's not broke don't fix it" well this is true for soft plastic companies too.

In my line of work I have seen a ton of different soft plastic companies come and go in the last few years because they all try to rip off the big name guys ideas and products. It's like Charlie and the Chocolate factory the whole movie is based around a kid working for a guy trying to steal the everlasting gobstopper. As sad as it is the fishing industry is loaded with guys trying to rip off someones hard work just to make a few bucks. A good example of this is everyone makes a shad tail bait and almost everyone makes a shrimp of some kind or a fluke style jerk bait, but no one has come out with something truely different until now.

Ouzo baits have found a way to make their 6 inch rip tail minnow, a paddle tail bait swim with a tail that paddles from side to side rather than up and down then couple that with a ribbed body it gives off a crazy vibration in the water that draws fish from a long way out you have a deadly bait for all inshore saltwater and freshwater game fish. But thats not it, with over a dozen other styles of baits in their line up you can be sure there is something there for everyone. I found the 6 inch rip tail minnow very easy to rig with a 4/0 weedless worm hook and the weight of the plastic allows you to cast it a mile.

I have caught a few redfish and trout on the 6 inch rip tail minnow since I got them but the only thing is I would like to see more saltwater colors used with the rip tail minnow as well as the 4 inch goby.  The plastic used seems to be of very high quality and the colors that they do have look great.  I give this product a 8 out of 10 because of the lack of what I would call saltwater colors however I highly reccomend that you take some time to go to   http://www.ouzobaits.com/ and give them a look..
Oh and their clothes are kinda cool as well.

Nice! I had a ton of Ouzo's after ICAST last year and loved 'em. Of course, I only got to fish them one day before they were stolen out of my car (along with most everything else).

The baits are great, in the short experience I have.
