Often the term stake out pole is synonymous with flats kayak anglers around the Gulf Coast. Being over 600 miles from the nearest salt water flat, this review of the YakAttack ParnNPole is from a land locked kayak fishing in lakes and rivers perspective.

I’ve been using the YakAttack ParkNPole for about a month and a half, it has quickly replaced my brush clip and anchor in shallow water kayak fishing applications.

The ParkNpole is 6’ 2” long; which makes for easy storage in your kayak and transportation in your vehicle.

ParkNPole Handle

The top has a Y shaped handle that serves as a foot while poling. The handle also has a hole and notch which allows you to tie an anchor or safety line easily to it. Even without using the hole the notch did a great job not allowing the knot to slip down.

ParkNPole tip

The other end of the pole has a pointed tip, which easily sticks into most river and lake bottoms I encountered.

This thing is light; it weighs less than 1.5lbs and like all YakAttack products floats “verified on my first trip when I kicked it over the side of the kayak”. The poles flotation didn’t cause any issues with its holding power even while totally submerged.

So what didn’t I like about the ParkNPole?

I only have one issue, the length. I wish YakAttack made a couple different lengths. I found it very difficult to us it as a push pole in anything deeper than 2.5 feet. For the areas that I fish, another 2’ would be perfect.

In summery at only $55 the YakAttack ParkNPole is one tool I highly recommend for any kayak angler who fishes shallow water on a regular basis.

I gave the ParkNPole a rating of 8 which would easily be a 10 if it was slightly longer.

Follow-up: After talking to Luther Cifers of YakAttack about my review, he told me a solution is already in the works that addresses my dislike of the 6' 2" length.
