Review: Standard Horizon HX751 Radio

After reading Isaac Miller’s review of the Uniden “Atlantis” VHF marine radio, I decided to share my dramatically different experience with my Standard Horizon HX751. I purchased my radio two seasons ago for around $150. It has accompanied me nearly every time I have ventured out on my kayak. I consider a VHF radio an important part of my safety equipment and although I have not yet had to use it in an emergency, I do feel good knowing it is there and having confidence it will work.

Thursday 9/29/11 Recap Kayak Fishing Radio

Thursday's show started with the building excitement of the upcoming BoonDoggle! I've received some inquiries from folks for more information and hopefully that means we'll be seeing more of you at ChuckTown! The basics are these: we arrive on Friday the 7th, some of us are fishing the RedFish Shootout to support Heros on the Water so we have a Captain's meeting that evening at 1830.

The Late Show...Sort Of

As you know, I have a face for radio and the voice to inspire folks to clamber for the mute button….that’s why I write instead of getting on a fishing TV show.

What I DO have though, is a passion for fishing. Maybe that’s why Chip Gibson has asked me to do an 11:00 Kayak Fishing Radio show. Another reason is, due to our 8:00 time slot, the folks on the West Coast don’t really get an opportunity to call in since it’s 4:00 pm their time.
