IFA Savannah, Georgia Results
This was my first Inshore Fishing Association (IFA) kayak tournament. This event proved to be a great opportunity to fish a new area, and meet old and new friends, just like the Boondoggles - except the anglers are a little more tight-lipped. During Saturday pre-fishing for Robert Vaughn (from Columbia) and me, it looked like we were in some fishy waters, but we struck out. We checked out the Turner River and the Lazaretto Creek. Both places we noticed bait activity and possible redfish escaping our lures, but no hookups to confirm our thoughts.

When kayakers and fishing enthusiasts gathered in Henry County, Georgia on Saturday June 4, they focused on Special Olympics and the events of the day rather than who's who. Saturday marked the second annual Kayak and Fishing Field Day at the Cubihatcha Outdoor Center in Locust Grove. The event is sponsored by the Henry County Parks and Recreation Therapeutic Recreation Division and The Georgia Kayak Fishing Foundation (GKFF). But GKFF also used this day - perhaps their 'signature event' - to announce their new name, Paddle4Tomorrow

Kayak fishing with Henry County's Special Olympians
This weekend a group of volunteers from the Georgia Kayak Fishing Foundation, a charitable non-profit organization, joined forces with the Henry County Water and Sewer Authority as well as the Henry County Special Olympics to take a group of Special Olympics athletes for a day of kayaking and fishing.
On The Kayak Fishing Show
As some of you know, I spent this week on the Georgia Coast fishing with the crew from The Kayak Fishing Show with Jim Sammons. Before I get started on the report of the trip, I need to thank, no we all need to thank Tony for setting all this up. He did all the leg work to get these guys to our coast and get the facilities on board to make this happen. I happened to be lucky enough to have all his hard work passed off to me to do the fun part. Thanks Tony!!!
Georgia shrimp boat retrofitted for kayak tours
DARIEN, Ga. -- Shrimp boats along Georgia's coastline are usually seen dragging nets. One has been refitted to drag kayaks.The Captain Gabby, a shrimp vessel that's been retrofitted for kayak tours, is making its public debut at today's Blessing of the Fleet in Darien. After that the boat will moor at Darien's city docks, ready to ferry kayakers to far-flung coastal places too remote to reach by paddle power alone.
