For many of us YakAnglers, this is the time of year when we begin to feed this kayak fishing addiction by attending boat shows, Googling anything related to the sport, and preparing for local and regional tournaments. I wanted to take a moment to share the upcoming schedule for the IFA Kayak Fishing Tour.
I know it seems crazy to sojourn across the state of Florida, lose out on sleep, sustain yourself on trail mix and those little peanut butter crackers just to get together with good friends and chase fish around in little plastic boats.
But, whoever thinks it’s crazy to do such things, hasn’t had the opportunity to fish Mosquito Lagoon with two of the best kayak fishing guides on the east coast of Florida.
I came across this Stand Up Paddle board (SUP) while surfing the web the other day, and I must say that I’m pretty interested in checking out this SUP. The Hooked SUP by Alex Aguera Design looks like its set up to handle a multitude of different activities while on the water, especially fishing!!!
I came across this pretty cool kayak fishing accessory and just wanted to share with you YakAnglers since we have been talking about rod holders this week. This particular accessory is pretty cool as you don't have to permently attatch anything to your kayak. So if you have that brand new shiny kayak and are feeling nervous about drilling holes in it, you may want to check out this product.
Many of you have heard of the organization Heroes on the Water and its founder Jim Dolan (aka. Double Dip), well we caught up with Jim and he took a few minutes out of his very busy schedule to share a little about himself for our readers.
Kayak Kevin is going on tour around the bay. Two years ago he paddled around the Virginia section of the bay. This time he is circumnavigating the entire bay all the way up the eastern shore to the Susquehanna Flats in upper Maryland and down the western shore back home to Norfolk. This will be 600 miles and take him six weeks to do.
So, after recapping a good weekend of fishing I decided that I would share with you YakAnglers my favorite reel. I had originally stumbled upon this reel online and after reading a few reviews decided to give it a try. Below is a quick summary of what makes this reel a great purchase.
