With the hustle of the holidays coming to an end and 2012 right round the corner, I took a step back to reflect on what a great year 2011 was for the YakAngler Nation. With many kayak fishing websites being five to ten or more years old, YakAngler is definitely the new kid on the block. October 19, 2011 marked our two-year anniversary. In that short time we have seen our community of active users double, and in 2011 we reached over 160,000 unique visitors.
Well, the chaos of another Christmas is behind me, and I decided to do something I rarely get to do... TAKE A WEEKDAY OFF TO GET IN THE KAYAK AND GO BASS FISHING!!!!
It was absolutely gorgeous here Christmas day and I drooled all day at the prospects of hitting the water. 58 degrees, bright sunshine, and no wind - perfect! Unfortunately, it wasn't as nice Monday. I wanted to try a new bait, however, and didn't have any loads booked to haul until Tuesday night. There was no way I was staying off the water. Another layer of fleece under the dry top and waders, and to the river I went.

I thought it would be interesting if I chronicled a day in the life of a guy (me) who is totally consumed with kayak fishing.
Having a weekday off for me is a rare thing, so after a couple of text messages I was ready to do some fishing with my good friends Dave and Bill. Dinner with the family led to re-rigging the poles and loading the kayak in the truck for a 5:30 wakeup call.
With Christmas just around the corner, we wanted to share with you antoher Pro-Staff Christmas guide. The items below are what I would recomend to any kayak angler on your fishing list. Enjoy!

Below pretty much my Letter to Santa, with some great gear for kayak fishing.
Lets start with....
Every year I still write a letter to Santa telling him what I want for Christmas. Yes I'm 31 years old and some might say too old to still be writing to Santa. How else is "anyone" to know what I'd like this year? Well this year I decided to break with tradition and instead of sending a list I'd post a list on my blog. I hope they get the Internet up in the North Pole and Santa checks out YakAngler every week!
