I was lucky enough to be able to purchase a new Ride 115 within the first couple weeks of it’s initial release. Since then I’ve put the boat through it’s paces on rivers large and small while guiding professionally and fishing for fun. Let’s just say I’ve got a LOT of seat time in this boat. It has quickly become by river chariot of choice on most of my kayak fishing excursions. This kayak offers great fishability and paddling performance as a result of a well thought out design.
Lowrance takes a huge leap forward in the kayak fishing industry making use of the Tallon Socket System and universal scupper mount. Its made for skimmer and HDS transducers, and, we honesty, don't see why the setup wouldn't work for other manufacturers. The Lowrance Tallon combination make for an ultra slick and easy to remove fish finder install. Check out the photos and video shot yesterday from the ICAST floor. Thanks Adam for hooking us up with this first glimpse of this sweet system.
One of the most popular fishing kayaks just got a little smaller! Yesterday at ICAST Hobie Cat unveiled one of it's new kayaks for 2012, the Revolution 11. Our Associate Editor Isaac "The Nothing" Miller calls it "A good game changer. Faster than the Outback, but in a small size for small bodies of water similar to the Outback." Stay tuned! Hobie said they'd have a 2nd new boat at ICAST this year too!!
A few weeks ago I was given a few new soft plastics to try from Ouzo Baits. Being that I mainly use soft plastics I am a tough guy to impress when it comes to new products, you know the old saying "if it's not broke don't fix it" well this is true for soft plastic companies too.
