I’ve wanted to write an article on the topic of standing and fishing while kayak fishing for some time now.  I talk to so many people that either struggle with this task or have just never tried.

Four months ago Blake Young showed us the concept drawing of a new kayak model for NuCanoe. From what I saw it seemed like all the shortcoming of the original NuCanoe had been addressed. Earlier this month we were informed the first kayaks had been completed and were headed to Kentucky. This weekend the YakAngler crew was able to put the yak through its paces like any true kayak fisherman would. I have two words for NuCanoe, Freakin Awesome!

If you haven’t heard already Blake and Deanna Young of NuCanoe hit the road over a month ago, turning the country with two of their newest kayaks the Frontier 12. A few months ago Adam and I had a chance to sit down with Blake and Deanna Young. They wanted to get our input about something new in the works at NuCanoe. I immediately knew they hit the nail on the head; but I was sworn to secrecy… Well I can finally let the cat out of the bag!

After featuring an article about their fishing kayak, I was contacted by NuCanoe's Director of Business Development Blake Young.  He asked us if we wanted to put their kayak through it's paces, and of course I said yes. It was shipped to a shipping hub here in Louisville, KY and actually the first time I looked at this kayak-it was HUGE!

The term it’s a small world is often used in conversations; in the Kayak Fishing business, it’s an even smaller world! Last night Adam and I had the chance to sit down with Blake Young and his wife Deanna; if you don’t know who Blake is, he’s the Director of business development for NuCanoe, Inc.

One thing folks ask me quite a bit is “What’s the best kayak I should get?” Since the variables are so complex, there’s no simple, cut and dry answer. It’s almost like asking someone what sort of shoes to buy. I’m sure that any kayak fishing guide or pro angler will tell you to get the kayak that they use because, chances are, they’re on a kayak manufacturers pro staff and that’s what they’re supposed to do.
