Last week two kayak fishermen fishing off the California coast had a hair raising encounter whit what they estimated to be a 15-16 foot long Great White shark! The shark hit Harry in his Hobie Outback so hard that the 6’2” 235lb kayaker was sent flying out of kayak and flipping the Outback. Check out the video and quote from their experiences below.

As you have recently read here on YakAngler.com, four U.S. kayak anglers participated in the Hobie Kayak Fishing World Championships held in Australia. We here at YakAngler are so pleased to be part of this kayak fishing sport that is taking not only a national stage but playing in an international arena. Starting January1st of 2011 the IGFA began accepting applications for new All-Tackle Length Records. This catch photo and release format is perfectly suited for us kayak anglers and hopefully we will see kayak fishing angler's leading in the records for the length category.
Look out Bassmasters, here comes the little plastic boats! This month 4 US Hobie Fishing Team members will compete in the first ever Kayak Fishing World Championship! The US team will compete against Hobie Fishing Teams from Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, and Australia.
