There's no doubt that the Kayak Fishing scene is growing. Now Lowrance is engraining deeper into the sport with their newest offerings - the Elite-4 series of fish finders. Lowrance is marketting these new sonar and chartplotter units as "Perfect for Kayaks." Its time to take a closer look at these new units.
I fish a lot of deeper water and I enjoy traveling to new bodies of water to explore while kayak fishing. To help me in both of these endeavors, I picked up a detailed mapping chip to supplement the base map on my GPS sonar unit. I choose to go with the Navionics Gold Charts for several reasons.
Its no secret that I love to make use of my iPhone while on the water. I use Navionics charts for finding structure. I use Ustream to make live broadcasts. Both apps do a pretty good job at taxing my battery. Not to mention that I'm plagued by worries of the phone getting wet when its not in my RAM AquaBox. But this new case from Magellan will resolve all my problems, and I can't wait to get one
I've been running to PC whenever the surf is down enough for me to launch. I just love the fishing out there - anyone could really do it...
This time I brought a crab pot with me. I've never tried crabbing out there before, but I usually see one other crab buoy, so I figured I'd give it a go. I just took the one pot (oregon limits 3 pots/person) just so I didn't have to worry about all the extra gear for nothing.
SPOT's newest GPS locator and messenger device hit store shelves this month, and it's something I know I'll be adding to my list for Santa.
It comes complete with a new form factor that is smaller, lighter, and touts improved battery performance. Three things that everyone wants with electronics upgrades.
