Kayaker wins World Championship

Last weekend, 50 fly anglers from around the US and Canada converged on McMinnville, TN, for the Musky Fly Fishing World Championship. Competitors hit a couple local rivers from bass boats, drift boats, and even a few kayaks. Their goal - catch and release the largest muskellunge using fly tackle, and promote musky conservation efforts. Little did they know, a kayak angler was going to take the win.

IFA Kayak Fishing Championship Results

The 2011 IFA Kayak Fishing Tour finale is in the books. Kayak anglers from around the country battled it out in Chalmette Louisiana for a chance at being the 2011 IFA Kayak Fishing Tournament Champion. After two days of fishing Justin Carter emerged the victor with a combined total 105 inches winning him the championship and the 2011 Angler Of The Year.

Southern Redfish Classic Championship

A new fishing location, less than favorable weather conditions, and a malfunctioning camera would have been more than enough to take out the average tournament kayak fisherman. With the odds truly stacked against him Bob Bramblet of Bonita Springs Florida soldiered on to maintain his points lead and win the series championship. Kelly Phillips Wins IFA Kayak Championship

Kelly Phillips, of Lakeland, Fla., led wire-to-wire, measuring four fish totaling a combined 125 inches in length to win the first-ever championship tournament for the IFA Kayak Fishing Tour Presented by Hobie on November 13. The event, contested in and around Orange Beach, Ala., which operated out of the Cobalt Restaurant, featured a field of qualifying anglers from each of the six divisions of the IFA Kayak Fishing Tour looking to catch and document the largest redfish and speckled sea trout each day of the two-day catch-photograph-and-release event. Phillips' combined aggregate score gave him a 22.5-inch margin of victory, bringing him the first championship title for the first-year tour.
