Typically during the winter months I spend time organizing my tackle, performing maintance on my rods and reels, and researching all things kayak fishing related. I'll still get out on the water but with the cold weather and freezing lakes its certainly much fewer and further between trips, giving me a ton of time to surf the web. One of my favorite things to do during this time on the web is to search for new gear or tackle that I can add to the arsenal so that I can hit the ground running come spring.
MINNETONKA, Minn. - With the introduction of the Clackin' Rap®, Rapala® sent anglers on high with a versatile bait that did it all. This year is no exception with the introduction of the Clackin' Crank and Clackin' Minnow.
For us fresh water kayak anglers, fall is one of the best times of year for fishing. As shad move to more shallow areas the bass follow eating and “stocking” up for winter. This scenario produces some very fun fishing opportunities as it allows for us kayak anglers to throw a lot of different baits that simulate shad. I thought that it would be a great opportunity to highlight 5 fall fishing lures.
When I heard that Exude had some new lures not yet on the market and I would get a chance to test them out, to say I was pumped is an understatement. I have been a big fan and die hard Exude user for some time. My personal favorites being the RT Slug. I have caught more redfish using the RT Slug in Arkansas Shad color than I can remember. In the past year I was turned onto the Exude Dart and it has quickly become my new favorite. Using the Gold Dart, I won a tournament sponsored by Paddle-Fishing.com last year and caught some of my personal best fish.
