As the year comes to a close, I decided to sit back and take a look at the year that was 2011. The year really started in the last few months of 2010 for me when I really started to get involved in on-line fishing forums, especially YakAngler.com. This led me to launch YakFish.net with the help of YakSushi Media in January.
One thing many kayak fishermen have in common is the desire to customize their fishing kayaks. An easy way to add your own personal flair is by adding stickers or decals to your kayak. Many of today’s Roto-Molded kayaks have a textured surface making it hard to get the decals to stick for more than a few trips. Bill Howard shows us how to get stickers to stick to his Malibu kayak’s textured surface.
One thing folks ask me quite a bit is “What’s the best kayak I should get?” Since the variables are so complex, there’s no simple, cut and dry answer. It’s almost like asking someone what sort of shoes to buy. I’m sure that any kayak fishing guide or pro angler will tell you to get the kayak that they use because, chances are, they’re on a kayak manufacturers pro staff and that’s what they’re supposed to do.
Malibu Kayaks has introduced a new kayak fishing model to their fishing series kayaks. Malibu Kayaks is introducing the new Stealth 9 in 2011. The Stealth 9 is built off of the Malibu Kayaks Mini-X platform but with many of the attributes of the Stealth series of fishing kayaks. The Mini-X has been one of Malibu Kayak’s best selling boat so it seems pretty ingenious to incorporate the many fishing features of the Stealth series to this kayak.
