Malibu Introduces the new X-Factor

YakAngler got their first look at the new Malibu X-Factor fishing kayak at this year's ICAST. This kayak is sharp, the new features included on this model really look like Malibu has listened to the kayak fishing community, and I’m excited to get my hands on one.

River2sea Dahlberg Clackin' Crayfish

It’s pretty obvious that I’m addicted to kayak fishing, but what many of you may not know about me is that I’m a certified lure junky!  So while out at ICAST I just could not help but stop and check out the thousands of new lures soon to hit the market.  This Clackin’ Crayfish was one of those many lures that peaked my interest.

Daiwa T3 Baitcasting Reels

ICAST this year showcased some pretty cool new products utilizing technology never seen before in the fishing industry.  As a kayak angler I was very excited to check out some of the new rods and reels coming to the market soon. Daiwa has created a revolutionary new product called the T3 Baitcasting Reels.  These reels utilize a new T-Wing and Magforce 3D system, which promise to create longer casting opportunities with a more advanced backlash control.

Review: Vibram Five Fingers

I've seen more and more folks sporting the Vibram Five Fingers and eventually broke down and bought a pair.  I wanted to see how they hold up to the rigors of fishing and walking through slippery streams and rivers.  They have been out with me kayak fishing for a few trips now, this is how they fared.

Temple Fork Outfitters: BVK Reel

Temple Fork Outfitters released their new BVK Reel at this year’s 2011 ICAST show.  This rod was created to complement their already successful BVK series of rods.  The BVK would be equally at home in both fresh and salt water, perfect for the kayak fisherman who wants a well rounded fly reel. This great new product by TFO took “Best in Show” in the Fly Fishing Category.

Walking around ICAST a lot of products certainly caught my. As I walked past the VestPac booth I noticed a man wearing something interesting looking around his chest. I approached Paul, the guy wearing the device, and ask about the product. He walked me through his demonstration; and I had to admit that I could certainly see where this could come in handy.

Bombshell Turtle by Castalia Outdoors

In preparation for ICAST, I sat down and paged through the dozen upon dozens of emails that I received from exhibitors preparing to showcase this year.  One of the press releases that stood out in my mind as I made my way through isles and isles of products was the introduction of the Bombshell Turtle by Castalia Outdoors.
